College Wrestling Info Sheet

Whether it be at the D1, D2, D3, NAIA, NJCAA or Club level there are universities and colleges that may be a great fit for you to continue your academic and wrestling career.

 

Did you know Michigan has several schools that sponsor wrestling?

D1: Michigan, Michigan State, Eastern Michigan, Central Michigan

D3: Adrian, Olivet, Alma

NAIA: Davenport, Cleary

NJCAA: Muskegon Community College, St. Clair County CC

CLUB: GVSU, UM Dearborn, Mott CC, Henry Ford CC

 

College Wrestling Checklist:

 

‚       Fill out and return any questionnaire that is mailed to you!  

‚       Create a list of schools that carry the Major/Minor you are interested in pursuing.

‚       Visit the websites of schools you are interested in attending, that carry your Major/Minor, and fill out an online recruiting questionnaire.

‚       Notify your counselor.  They will help make sure you are NCAA Clearinghouse approved.

‚       Register with the NCAA!

‚       Contact the college coaching staff and notify them of your interest via email.  Schedule a day for a possible campus visit to meet the coaching staff and team.

‚       Apply to the Universities/Colleges you are interested in and others.

‚       Apply for financial aid/academic scholarships/outside Scholarships.

‚       Notify Coach Hancock of the schools you are interested in.

‚       Seek advice from your support system: Parents, Coaches, Family…

‚       Make a decision that best suits your future!
